Why we exist
Our mission is to streamline the planning, testing and commissioning of Digital Railway Infrastructures.
We're passionate about transforming the railway system, making it more efficient, future-proof, and ready for the challenges ahead. Through cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions, we're driven by the belief that what we do today will shape the railways of tomorrow for the better.
Systems Lab 21 GmbH was founded
As a result of the Digital Rail Summer School (DRSS), Robert Schmid founded Systems Lab 21 GmbH while working on his PhD at the Hasso-Plattner-Institute, Potsdam, Germany. Our first working student complements the team.
Platform21 is born
Platform21 - initially the EULYNX Live Lab - is born, intially as a proof-of-concept for a number of different automated testing and planning showcases. First major projects are won. A second working student joins us.
First Full-Time employees
We hire our first full-time employees and Christoph Müller joins as co-founder and managing director. We begin turning the proof-of-concept into a product. By Q2 we are 4 full time engineers and 2 working students.
Onboarding of important additional clients
Learning by doing and dogfooding our product development progress - both impossible without our clients. During 2023 we had the pleasure to start collaborating with several new and exciting clients. Most of those collaborations are still going strong today.
Designated Product Launch
Our product tailored for railway IOP and system testing, Platform21, is launched during the summer of 2024. First beta testers use the software. The team keeps growing - at the end of Q3 we are 7 full time employees and one working student.
Mistral and Scirocco join the product family
Two additional products are on their way into more users hands - Scirocco and Mistral. Each of them tackles a hairy problem: one streamlines the handling and analysis of planning documents, the other enables easy DiB-compliant prototyping, development and testing.
Systems Lab 21 is accepted into VDB
Verband der Bahnindustrie in Deutschland e.V. (VDB) is the association of the German railway industry. We are proud to be accepted as a member and are looking forward to the collaboration with other industry organizations.
Frame Contracts and Partnerships
2025 is a year of partnership building. We are excited to announce frame contracts with multiple clients, strengthening our position in the industry and fostering long-term collaborations.
